Kay The Aquanaut - Waist Deep In Concrete (2004)-192kbps

Kay The Aquanaut - Waist Deep In Concrete (2004) Side Road Records (SRR-007)

For those who haven't heard this, here is an amazing album from Kay The Aquanaut (Side Road Records). The beats on this record are dope as fuck!.. deep.. dark.. dreamy folk'd out underground with a little taste of piano & guitar here and there. Kay drops some serious lyrics on this record and weaves them into the beats like a true master, giving this album some real depth. Don't sleep on this one, produced by Factor, and featuring flows from Ben.e Elim, Lion, M.Phasis, Nolto & Vizion. If you like it ... and you will .... make sure to support the artist and buy it !!!

Ginsbergs Inkling - The Halfpenny Marvel (2006)

Ginsbergs Inkling - The Halfpenny Marvel (2006)

The Maritimes are pretty, especially in the fall. But the beauty of falling red maple leaves weren’t enough to keep Ginsberg (John Creary) content. With no mustache, he packed the rusty Corolla and sought something bigger. Almost satisfied somewhere in Cowtown, he teaches English and Social Studies to youth at-risk, spending his free time traveling, reading, writing and making beats. These latter two creative yearnings collided into his debut release, The Halfpenny Marvel.

Way back in 86’, Raising Hell and License to Ill set in marvelous motion an imperfect love affair. A romance with rhyme that involved reciting all the lyrics of these classics to grade six teachers and giggling schoolgirls. Two decades later, The Halfpenny Marvel is a self produced, juggle of orthodox hip hop and something more creative, uncanny, and humane. A bending collage of dusty breaks, spacey synth, pretty pianos, fluttering flutes, somber horns, electronic melodies, movie clips, and tight turntable scratches (courtesy of Matt ‘Braille’ Cameron).

Ginsberg’s words are mostly poetic musings, capturing moments and wandering over social sickness, ex-girlfriends, red balloons, teary eyed depression, and new haircuts. The mood is both dark and warm. Apocalyptic and playful. Cinematic, personal, and worn. And if nothing else, The Halfpenny Marvel shows wonderful potential marinating.

This album is off the hook!, a hearty stew!, with many musical elements at play here including blues, hip hop, rock, trip hop, metal, turntablism, jazz, breaks, even some good ol' campfire folk elements. There is definitely something on this album for everyone, as for me, I'm a pig ... I ate it all.

All beats direct from Jels SPI200. Some very raw .. others not as. All U.S. Marine Propaganda footage taken from The Making of a Marine, some shitty sound file dollar binn record....

U.S. Marines are trained killers... to be killed and remembered as a collective mass.
- Master & Chief

This album is god damn genius !!, I will never get tired of listening to this instrumental hip hop gem. Aside from containing some of the illest beats this nation has ever heard, it's loaded with crazy/funny clips of militarized sheeple , brainwashed marines and psychotic drill sergeants.

Let me start by saying this .... DJ Z-Trip is THE SHIT !!! .... I've been knocked off my feet by this man's mixes for years, the man is a freakin HERO !. Noone can rock a party like Z-Trip .... be it a House Party ... or a White House Party ... Z-Trip will take the walls down, and this mix is no different .... enjoy.

DJ Z-Trip - Obama Mix (2008) from djztrip.com

Recently, Shepard Fairey and I threw some fundraisers for the Obama campaign. We called them “The Party for Change”. (If you don't know who Shepard is—among many other things—he is the one responsible for the image on the right).

I've been wanting to put the mix I've been doing at these shows online, in hopes of spreading the word to people who need to hear it most. So, here it is: (zipped vbr mp3 / 84.7 MB)

I encourage you to download it and pass it along to anyone you think should hear it. Feel free to burn copies, share it with friends, family, co-workers, strangers, and especially anyone you know is on the fence about this election. I'm also putting out a radio friendly version, in case anyone wants to broadcast it.

Please share the message. Educate those who may not know what is really going on. There is still time.

If you, or anyone you know, isn't registered to vote, I encourage you to make it a priority and fix that before it's too late. This election is WAY too important for anyone to not get involved. If you need more information on how and where to register, vote, or participate, please check the links below.

I honestly feel if we make our voices heard, this time WILL be different.

Peace, Z-Trip
